Pern: The Lost Weyrs

We are a Pern based RPG that takes place during the end of the Second Long Interval and then in the 9^th pass of the Red Star. We run on an alternate time line from the novels. Avias and the discovery of the grubs does not happen in our Pern based world, neither does Lessa's trip back in time to bring the Old Timers foreword.

In Pern: The Lost Weyrs, the Dragon Riders disappeared two hundred seventy turns into the second long interval. The Weyrs numbers had decreased considerably when they fell into disfavor. The Holds took advantage of this and revolted. Harpers tried to warn the people of Pern of the debt that they owed the riders, but it was to no avail. Harpers could either change with the times, or find themselves unwanted as well. Thread had been too long forgotten, and the riders were too few. Then one day the Dragon Riders were gone no trace or remnant remained except for the abandoned Weyrs.

Dragonriders fell into legend going the way of the fire lizard. But now, the Red Star is rising again and a few of the Harpers, remembering the old teaching songs, are now wondering if there is some truth to the old stories and if so by the first EGG what have they done? What happened to the Dragonriders and does the Red Star rising in the East herald the end of all Life on Pern?

A word to all those thinking of joining LW: We, at Lost Weyrs, are of the belief that the good guy always gets the girl and the bad guys always finish last….YEAH RIGHT… If you want Peaches and Cream…go somewhere else…you will not fit in here. On the other hand, if you want to RP out a believable Pern World…then you are at the right place. Our chars live in a world where not all bronze riders are hero’s and gold riders can be…well…sugar and spice and everything not so nice. Lord Holders and Harpers alike can also have ulterior motives, watch out for the lowliest Drudge as well. We like all kinds here at LW, just remember, lets keep it real.

Also, we ask all those under the age of 16 not to post with us. We tend to deal with more adult material and themes. We do not want to have to have a chat with any parents out there about corrupting their children. If you are under 18, stay away from threads labeled mature. That also applies to anyone who might be offended by such material. If you enter into a thread that is labeled mature, you are stating by posting there that you are 18 yrs of age or older.

Wondering how to get started?

This RPG is conducted in a message board setting, instead of being email based. To RP with us, you must be a member of Proboards. It is extremely simple to join and most importantly it is all free.

After joining Proboards, you will be ready to create a character… we encourage individuality and creativity…as long as it coincides with DR…If you haven’t read any of the Dragon Rider books…then shame on you ;)…but never fear you can still RP with us. We have a brief over view of the history of Pern on our site. It will give you an idea of this RPG’s setting and the more important facts about Pern and her People. Please… if you have questions…ask…we are a friendly community and we are more than willing to help out a Newbie.
